September 13, 2018 - Upright Vol. II is out today. 'Upright is a carefully curated selection of sheet music that brings together the best contemporary music for solo piano.  All profits go to Music For Relief, a charity that provides immediate relief in the wake of humanitarian crises.'   


July, 2018 - Scoring 3-part drama series 'Manhunt' for ITV.  Based on the true story of how London Metropolitan police detective Colin Sutton tracked down a serial killer.  

 May 25, 2018 - The score for 'In Darkness' has been released by the Sony Classical label.  Check it out on iTunes or Spotify!

May, 2018 - New piano album 'Nightsongs' is out now!  


January, 2018  -  Scored 'Hatton Garden', the forthcoming four-part ITV series directed by Paul Whittington and written by Oscar-nominated writer Jeff Pope.

October, 2017 - Won the Venus Music Award at the Filmets Badalona Film festival in Barcelona for score to animated film 'The Lost Letter', narrated by Kate Winslet.  

May, 2017 - Scoring the film 'In Darkness'. See here for details.

March, 2017 -  Scoring 'Little Boy Blue', a four-part ITV drama written by Jeff Pope and directed by Paul Whittington.

February, 2017 - Solo piano albums 'The Promenade' and 'Still Life' to be re-released by 1631 Recordings on March 29th. 

May, 2016 - Completed scoring the animation 'The Lost Letter' (narrated by Kate Winslet) for director Kealan O'Rourke following a successful collaboration previously on the multi award-winning 'The Boy in the Bubble' (narrated by the late Alan Rickman).   'The Lost Letter' final mix will be completed towards the end of June.

March, 2016 - Sheet music book finished for new piano album 'Still Life' (coming soon in 2016).  

February, 2016 - Watch the trailer for the 'The Truth Commissioner ' below and hear the music from Niall's original score for the film.  "The minimalist approach taken by Niall Byrne for the film's score brilliantly adds to the underlying tension that exists in the movie"  (Film Ireland, Feb 22)

September, 2015 - Score completed for the forthcoming feature film 'The Truth Commissioner'.

April 8, 2015 - 'Cilla' and its lead actress, Sheridan Smiith, have both been nominated for a BAFTA award 

October 10, 2014 - Indie-spirited comedy 'Gold', with original score by Niall released in Irish cinemas. Starring James Nesbitt, Maisie Williams, David Wilmot and Kerry Condon. Director: Niall Heery.

August, 2014 - Completed composing score for 'Cilla', a three-part ITV drama series written by Jeff Pope (Philomena) about the singing career of Cilla Black in Liverpool in the 1960's.  Producer: Kwadjo Dajan. August, 2013 - Finished score for 'The Widower', a three-part drama series for ITV IMDB


July, 2013 - The Promenade, a solo piano album is now out on iTunes.  The album was recorded using vintage microphones on an old upright piano. 

April 14, 2013 - Niall's score for the classic Irish silent film 'Guests of the Nation' (1935) received its UK premiere at the Barbican Centre on April 14th, 2013.  The score was originally commissioned by the IFI (Irish Film Archive) and premiered in September 2011 by the RTE Concert Orchestra to sold out concerts at the National Concert Hall in Dublin,  followed by a US premiere in the Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center, New York.  Click here to download reviews 

February 10, 2013 - Niall's score for the BBC film 'Loving Miss Hatto' has won Best Original Score at the IFTA awards. Thank you to director Aisling Walsh,  producer Radford Neville, writer Victoria Wood and everyone at Left Bank Pictures. A special mention to pianist Archie Chen, who played all of the piano pieces by Joyce Hatto in the film as well as on the score, Maimie McCoy for her uncanny ability to inhabit the performer that was Joyce Hatto, and Ciarán Byrne at Cauldron Studios, who made it all sound so good. Thanks to conductor Fiachra Trench,  all of the musicians who played so beautifully, and also Fergus O' Carroll, Susan Holmes, Catherine O' Flaherty, Anna Rackard , Caitríona Walsh and Lynda Mamy of United Agents.
